Globe Inn 2010


Back in 2006 the Globe Inn on the corner of Lumn Road and Walker Lane was a colourful sight.

Now alas it is boarded up as it has been for around two years.

Meanwhile its neighbour on Lumn Road, the Gardeners Arms, has new landlords.

Lumn Road Triangle


Above the junction of Lumn Road with Norman Street there is a grassy triangle. At one time it supported three trees but now there are only two.

See how it was in the 1980s from the opposite direction on Hyde Cheshire.

Manchester Reserves at Ewen Fields


Manchester City Reserves play Manchester United Reserves at Ewen Fields tonight in the Senior Cup. It is a competition that has been held since 1885 which was the year when Hyde F.C. were formed.

Yesterday morning the ground was being prepared for the match.

This is the Tinkers Passage end of the ground.

125 Years of Football


A new plaque outside the White Lion celebrates the 125th anniversary of Hyde Football Club which was founded on July 27th, 1885.

The top view is from the bus stop at the corner of Apethorn Lane looking towards Knott Lane.

The bottom view was taken on a different day looking from Knott Lane towards Apethorn Lane.

Mona Street Recreation Ground


This recreation ground lies off Mona Street. Here we are looking across the field to the backs of old houses on Nelson Street and the front of new houses on Douglas Street.

3rd Gee Cross Scouts' contribution to the 2010 Well Dressing at Gee Cross was this display at Barons Road.

Their display illustrates the activities which the group have taken part in during the year and their visions and aspirations for the future.
