There was alas no getting in to the Theatre Royal last weekend on the Heritage Open Day. However this brief video shows what did go on.
My photographs of the theatre from previous open days can be seen at Theatre Royal Hyde and information about the efforts being made to preserve and re-open the theatre can be found on the website of the Theatre Royal Onward Trust.
I won't be around for a little while as I'm off into a different theatre shortly at Stepping Hill.
At the end of the row of terraced properties on Mottram Road, past the hairdressers and next door to the monumental mason is the Sportsman. It is a real ale pub serving the products of the Rossendale Brewery. It now also includes a Cuban restaurant.
This is Water Street looking past Old Court Street towards the back of the former Co-op (now Wilkinsons) on Greenfield Street with the Town Hall in the background.
For a closer view of the Town Hall clock tower see Hyde Daily Photo.
