The dead centre of Hyde

(Click on image to view full-size version)

The dead centre of Hyde is of course the cemetery.

This is the view beyond the entrance looking towards the chapel.

What chapel?

It isn't there anymore; it has been demolished.

See how it looked in October 2011.

See how it looked in March 2012.

See the view from the opposite direction on Hyde Daily Photo.

  1. What a delicious play on words. Lovely photo - if you saw last week's post from me, you would have seen how I love visiting cemeteries for their peace and history.

  2. I still believe that removing the chapel was a sad decision that may be regretted in the future! It was really a lovely little building! The tower, in particular, was such a beautiful, enchanting design!

  4. I had no idea that the chapel was to be demolished. A great shame, especially as my wife's great-grandparents lived at the gatehouse while her great-granddad was registrar.

  6. I find this roadway quite beautiful. Perfect for a stroll through a cemetery.. Would be a bit of a mess if these trees were deciduous though!
