Q is for Quay Plastics
A firm supplying plastics to the building trade has recently moved onto land off Manchester Road that was formerly part of the Automasters Engineering Works. There was once a popular hand car-wash on this site but that was demolished in 2008.
Here is how it looked in 2008 when some of the signage from the car-wash was still in place and before the houses on Rhodes Street North were knocked down.
This is how it looked in May 2012.

I don't understand why so many good and useful buildings are demolished. Sometimes they are replaced by ugly new buildings. I don't know how it is in the UK, but here in my country it's often the case.
ReplyDeleteThanks for your contribution.

Something of a desolate look, I think.
ReplyDeleteI guess it was a necessary re-do. Hope it does OK.

So only two in the wrong place.
When we were vacationing briefly in Memphis as part of a road trip this past summer, I was dismayed at all of the demolished buildings/now just lots with broken rubble. So sad. :(
ReplyDeletehand car wash would have to be given way to machines.
