Shadows across Water Street
The premises on the corner of Milk Street and Water Street that are now Hyde Deco were once the Nags Head. The Nags Head was opened around 1859 by Charlotte Pangburn. In the early 1900s it acquired a reputation as a disorderly house where gambling took place and it lost its licence in 1906 - See Hyde Cheshire Blog for more information.
See how this looked in 2011 on Geograph.

Beautiful, shadowy streetscape view. So the gambling house has a new face and a fresh start.
ReplyDeleteThe street is a canvas for a this dark work of shadow art.
ReplyDeleteShadows---and no traffic!
ReplyDeleteSubtle Mountain Shadows
An interesting different use for the building!
ReplyDeleteYour most recent posts were a bit of a challenge to find...but now that I'm here, I must admit it was worth the hunt!! Love the dappled shadows on the Water Street. [We have a Water Street in our city by the bay also!!]
ReplyDeleteHi Gerald,
ReplyDeleteYou sure found a unique blue today. I like the background story too.
Have a Beautiful Blue Monday!
...and great blues!
ReplyDeleteMy Blue Monday
A nice quiet street and some blue too. Always a pleasure stopping by to visit the Blues.
ReplyDeleteWonderful light and shadow, and the building on the corner does have the look of once being a pub.
