Trolley on Ice

The ice on the surface of the Peak Forest Canal is thick enough to support the weight of a supermarket trolly and several house bricks.

When it melts, as it surely will, the trolley will sink and join who-knows-what-else lurking below the surface.

The ice has already melted around the Manchester Road bridge as you can see on Hyde Daily Photo.

That will end up damaging someone's propeller in a couple of months, when the boating season starts again.
