Weekend Reflections
outside Stacey's on Borough Arcade

Reflections in the rain outside Stacey's Hairdressers on Borough Arcade.

On the right is Powerhouse Gym occupying the upper storeys of what was originally the Hippodrome Cinema.

Chain Bar Lane

This is Chain Bar Lane at the back of Hattersley viewed from the green off Ashworth Lane which is the new home of the Monkey Puzzle Tree.

The building is the Old Manor House, a clearer view of which can be found on Hyde Daily Photo.

This is the view from the opposite direction. In front of the Old Manor House is Brookfield Cottage.

Moving the Hattersley Monkey Puzzle Tree

In September 2008 I showed you the Hattersley Monkey Puzzle Tree and two weeks later another view of it.

The tree had been planted in the garden of a house on Garnett Road. The houses were demolished in 2008 as part of a planned redevelopment of the Hattersley Estate. The tree which had been a treasured local landmark for many years was allowed to remain.

Now Tesco have been granted planning permission to develop the site. At much expense, the iconic tree was moved yesterday to a green space on the opposite side of Ashworth Lane.

Further photographs of the tree can be seen on Hyde Daily Photo and also on my photoblog sithenah.

Two more Scarecrows

There was a scarecrow festival in Hyde a few weeks ago.

I've already shown you the scarecrow outside Greggs and Abbey Gallery's Mona Lisa.

These two were in Fulton's frozen foods store and the Rendezvous café in Clarendon Mall.

If you look carefully you'll see the photographer reflected in Fulton's window.

You'll find yet another scarecrow on Hyde Daily Photo.
