Signs in Hyde Park

Under a cherry tree at the southern entrance to Hyde Park is a piece of wood carved with a floral design and the words "Welcome to Hyde", also "Happiness" and "Unity". It appears to be dated MMXII (2012) but has only recently been erected here.

On the reverse is a floral design and the words "Hyde Community Art Project".

Nearby is a sign to the Woodland Walk to which has been pinned a public information notice dated March 2015 that states "Please note that the setting of any traps in greenspaces owned or managed by Tameside Council is not permitted. The causing of unnecessary suffering to wild animals is a breach of the Animal Welfare Act 2006." Anyone with information about the illegal setting of traps in Hyde Park is requested to call the Council.

A contribution to signs, signs.

  1. You just know that notice wouldn't be there if something hadn't precipitated the need. The artist did beautiful work on the wood.

  5. An art project that should age well.
The setting of traps does not sound good for humans or animals either.
