No Bridge at Over Yonder
This is the Peak Forest Canal at Over Yonder looking across towards the Adamson Industrial Estate. I showed you the view around here from a boat on the canal in May 2015.
If you see how it looked in 2007 on Hyde Daily Photo Vol.1 you'll discover that there used to be a footbridge across the canal here.
It was declared unsafe in 2006 but neither Adamson's, the local council nor British Waterways could agree on who was responsible for the repairs and nothing was done apart from blocking off the access. Now it has been removed completely.
See this blocked off section by the towpath in 2011 on Geograph.
See the bridge from the opposite direction in this post from April 2011.

Isn't that just the way between governments and public agencies?
ReplyDeletekind of sad they just took it down without replacing it.
ReplyDeleteIf in doubt, erase. Like the emu story. It's not important if I don't want to know ... think head in sand.
ReplyDeleteLove the textures in that last image!
