Zion Congregational Roll of Honour


A framed Roll of Honour lists members of the congregation of Zion Congregational Church, Hyde who served in the armed forces during WW1.

It shows surname, first names of initials, and rank, and identifies those who were killed, died, or taken prisoner.

  2. i wonder what is normal? are most lists similar in length or? was that a normal # of men who did go to war? ( :

    1. Many of the war memorials only list the number of men who died - this one lists all the ones who went to war including those who returned and remember this was from just one church out of maybe a dozen or more in the town.

  4. A lot of churches here that date back to those years will have honour rolls, both of those who served and those who died in the wars. It's quite fitting. This church saw a lot of their own in service.
