The site of Whittaker's Whim
A view over the wall of Stockport Road onto land formerly a quarry. In the background are new houses off King Edward Avenue. The ground beneath the wall is still derelict. At one time it was the site of Whittaker's Whim, a 5 story building built against the wall with 3 stories below Stockport Road, and the top two stories fronting onto Stockport Road. It was replaced by the original 2-story stone-built factory used by G B Moores for the dressing of chamois leather. and was known as "Glen Chamois". More information can be found on Old Hyde
