St George's New Windows

I posted a photograph of the inside of St George's on 28th September 2014.

The original stained glass windows in St George's were destroyed when a bomb dropped on Church Street during WWII. New windows have now been created by glass artist Sarah Galloway who was commissioned in 2012 to create a new east window and two adjacent side windows. They were installed and dedicated by the Bishop of Chester in February 2015.

This is the right-hand side window.

This is the left-hand side window. The trees in the churchyard can be seen waving in the wind through the windows.

A detail of the central East window.

Another detailed photograph can be found on my photoblog: sithenah.

Information on the history of St George's can be found on Old Hyde.

  6. Beautiful work, but I'm afraid I'm more of a traditionalist when it comes stain glass window in a church as old as this one.

  10. Hi Gerald,

I'm sure the new windows are lovely, but it's a shame that the originals were destroyed. Thanks for playing today.

  13. Love how the side windows echo the colours of the main window. I don't think I have ever seen stained glass church windows styled in this way. Most enchanting.
