Hyde 7 mile road race
Market Street was closed yesterday for the Hyde 7 mile road race. Two pace setters in blue and yellow shirts led the start of the race. This was the third event of the Tour of Tameside. It followed a 6 mile Fell run on Friday and and a Half Marathon on Saturday.
Some 333 runners completed the event. Starting outside Hyde Town Hall this 7 mile road race goes straight up Market Street before turning left onto Mottram Old Road and past the Ken Ward Leisure Centre in Hattersley and left onto Mottram Road; then Grange Road North near Hyde United and past Hyde Leisure Pool and up Lumn Road before turning back onto Market Street and down to the finish outside Hyde Town Hall.
Here we see the runners starting to string out as they pass the end of Dowson Road.
These were the runners at the back of the pack. You can see the start/finish point at the bottom of Market Street. I didn't stay to watch them return. The winner was Mohammad Aburezeq of Altrincham and District AC in a time of 35:32 minutes while the last to finish took 1 hour 44 minutes,
You can find the full results of the race at runbritain.
