The Clearing of Wharf and Toray Mills
Wharf Mill was demolished some time ago. The retaining wall alongside Dukinfield Road was left in situ. Now that too has been demolished.
The nearby Toray Mill next to the Peak Forest Canal was also demolished a few years ago. The sites are now been cleared.
There are plans by Bellway Homes to develop an estate of 66 new homes on the site of the two mills.
A contribution to Good Fences.

Am I right in thinking that Throstlebank Mill was also near there?
ReplyDeleteLooking at http://hydonian.blogspot.co.uk/2011/01/throstle-bank-mill.html I think TB mill was lower down near where the M67 now cross the canal.
DeleteGreat photos and wonderful shots!

ReplyDeleteGood to have the safety of those fences while everything is being cleared.
