The roundabout on Hyde Market was manufactured by Halsteads of Sowerby Bridge in 1897 and has been operating here for more than a century.
When I photographed it
three years ago the fare for a ride was only 50p but now it has doubled to £1.
A contribution to
ABC Wednesday.

ReplyDeleteThey always bring memories back to the top ;-)

All things go up... and even at a pound, that seems reasonable.
ReplyDeleteThis is not your typical carousel ride. So cool.

A very unique carousel!! My kids always enjoyed going.

what a fancy carousel. I have seen only the horses, and occasionally small cars.
ReplyDeleteI'll bring my grandchildren over immediately
ReplyDeleteI seem to remember that when I was a child in Hyde many years ago, this 'carousel' was called 'the dobby horses'.
