Former embankment at Foxholes
Originally this was the embankment of the Godley Junction to Apethorn railway. Since the line was closed and dismantled the route has become part of the Trans Pennine trail. What looks like a small stream at the bottom is in fact the muddy bridlepath section of the trail. Above the embankment is the bottom of an oak tree which in recent years has lost several branches, one of which can be seen strewn down the embankment.
See how the tree looked in June 2009 on sithenah.
See a larger view of the Foxholes Oak on Hyde Daily Photo.
Tree followers should check out Loose & Leafy.
