Work begins on Hyde Market renewal
Work has started on the refurbishment of Hyde Market. Stalls have been removed from the Southern half of the market. On Saturday morning the metal retaining posts were still sticking out of the ground.
The old stalls on the Northern half of the market are still busy. Some of the stallholders who used the Southern half are trading from temporary stalls outside the Clarendon Square Shopping Centre.
In the foreground is the remains of what fastened the old stalls to the ground. In the middle a workman with what I think is an oxy-acetylene torch is melting one of the metal support poles so that it can pulled from the ground.
A closer view of the work can be seen on Hyde Daily Photo.
