Set back from the junction of Dowson Road and Stockport Road at Gerrard's Cross is a granite stone and some benches.
My understanding is that they were erected as part of the Millennium celebrations.
Behind the fencing on the left is a valley though which a tiny rivulet flows.
This second photograph was taken in November 2007 and you can see the spire of Hyde Chapel in the background.
An old photograph of the junction from around the 1930s can be seen on Old Hyde.

ReplyDelete(cattle egrets are good bug-eaters. they follow herds of cattle and horses - right in with their hooves - to catch the bugs stirred up as they graze).
The Millennium rock is neat looks like a peaceful spot..Great shots!
